The BECAD scores have been compared with other scales commonly used in the assessment of functioning in patients with severe mental disorder, but also in some samples of stroke patients.

ADAPTATION OF THE ILSS

For the study of the nomological network of the BECAD, i.e. the relationships between measures of related variables according to the theoretical framework, it has been necessary to adapt and validate some instruments.

An example of this is the Activities of Daily Living Assessment (ILSS). The first results were presented at the 13th World Congress of the WAPR (World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation).

Inmaculada, Foix, Elena, Blasco, Pilar; Andrés, Soledad and Catalán, Esther (July, 2018). Spanish adaptation of the ILSS (Activities of Daily Living Assessment): validation in a Spanish sample of users of rehabilitation and social reintegration centres. Communication presented at the XIII WAPR Congress. Madrid (Spain).

Studies with BELS

One of the most widely used scales in psychosocial rehabilitation in Spain is the BELS (Basic Everyday Living Skills). The comparison between BECAD, ILSS and BELS was the aim of a paper presented at the V Congress of FEARP (Spanish Federation of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Associations).

Torreblanca, Daniel, Gil, Ana María and Moro, MIcaela (October, 2015). Comparative study of different assessment scales of Activities of Daily Living for people with severe mental disorder. Communication presented at the V FEARP Congress. Valencia (Spain).

Com o WHODAS II

WHODAS II is the scale created specifically to assess functioning with the ICF model.

The comparison between WHODAS, BELS and BECAD was presented at the 13th WAPR Congress.

Gil-Palmero, Ana Mª y Moro-Ipola, Micaela (julio 2018). Activities of daily living assessment: a comparison of three scales. Comunicación presentada en el XIII WAPR Congress. Madrid

Particularly relevant in this regard is the work of Gil-Palmero, AM, Moro Ípola, M Montañés Martí, S (2020): Spanish versions of assessment tools for functioning and activities daily living in schizophrenia: What do they measure?  Actas españolas de psiquiatría, 48 (6), 256-270, in which the theoretical basis, content and metric properties of instruments translated into Spanish and used in psychosocial rehabilitation are analysed in detail.
